Most of diving activities in Capo Palinuro can be made not only in the attractive sea bed, but also into innumerable underwater caves along the coast. So the best offering we can give you is the guided dive, that assures the most discovery pleasure, the most amusement and the most safety.


GROTTA DEL PRESEPE (CRIB GROTTO)
After leaving from the Palinuro's harbour, the first stop is at the Crib Grotto: this is an interesting semisubmerged cave, where it's possible to enjoy an easy and attractive dive, with many stalactites and stalagmites looking like an imaginary crib. Perfect for beginners, this grotto's entrance is at only 4 meters under sea level.

GROTTA VIOLA (PURPLE GROTTO)
Here is another interesting stop: "Cala Fetente" (Smelling Creek), where we can find three grottos in a very little space, the "Grotta sulfurea" (the Sulphur Grotto), the "Grotta del Lago" (the Lake's Grotto), the "Grotta Viola" (the Purple Grotto). That is the most interesting and the most visited. Its name comes from light refraction by the manganese on the rocky walls, that cgives an evocative purple colour to the cave.

GROTTA DEGLI OCCHI (EYES GROTTO)
Here we are at "Lanterna" (the lantern) (the name comes from the old Capo Palinuro's lighthouse), where we can find many caves. The best one is the "Grotta degli Occhi" (Eyes grotto), ideal for beginners, with two different levels, it has a 14 metres deep entrance and two other entrances at 7 metres under sea levels, resembling a pair of eyes.

CAPO SPARTIVENTO
Carrying on with our trip we reach Capo Spartivento, where it is possible to enjoy one of the best wall dive in Capo Palinuro. The natural scenery is extraordinary, with rich botanical life and red corals (Corallium rubrum) from the sea level till the maximun 52 m depth.

GROTTA DELLE CORVINE (CORVINA FISH GROTTO)
Beyond Punta Spartivento, the exterme promontory of Capo Palinuro, we can visit the "Grotta delle Corvine". Our staff considers this cave very attractive. It is also very easy and allows to beginners to visit a beautyful canyon in front of grotto's entrance.

CATTEDRALE 1 (CATHEDRAL 1)
This is the most beloved dive by photo-skin-divers, for its characteristic entrance, resembling the central nave of a gothic cathedral. Suitable for both beginners and expert skin-divers.

PAN DI ZUCCHERO (SUGAR LOAF)
Near "Punta Quaglia" (Quail Promontory), in front of the "Grotta di Zia Anna" (Aunt Anna Grotto), at 24 m under sea level there is the big rock "Pan di Zucchero". It is pierced by a tunnel. Because of the depth and of the open sea, this dive is suitable for expert skin-divers.

GROTTA AZZURRA (BLUE GROTTO)
Whwn we are at the end of our triop, we reach the "Grotta Azzurra". This is surely the most famous cave of Capo Palinuro. Several scientists are studying this grotto for the special environment caused by many sulphur thermal springs. This cave is unique in the world.
